The strategies below have completed their investment periods or evolved into new vehicles — they're no longer accepting capital, but their portfolios and lessons live on. Advance California

The first Advance fund. Launched in 2016 to lend to impact-focused California-based small businesses and nonprofits. Pioneered the missing-middle lending model that anchors MDF's loan portfolio today. Status: Closed to new capital. Portfolio actively managed.

Advance New Mexico

Statewide extension of the Advance model to New Mexico-based businesses and nonprofits. $1.2M deployed in 2025 across Native- and rural-serving enterprises. Status: Active lending continues through /loans/new-mexico/. Investor capital closed.

MDF Capital Partners

National diversified private credit portfolio supporting emerging impact fund managers. The platform's emerging-manager work continues through Supporting Emerging Managers and Bold Line Capital. Status: Closed to new capital. Lessons carried forward into Bold Line.

Advance New Mexico Initiative for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (IIE)

National pilot to unlock U.S. Department of Treasury SSBCI dollars for entrepreneurs historically overlooked by conventional finance. Status: Pilot phase complete. Lessons carried forward into other initiatives.

Advance Climate

Climate-focused extension of the Advance model. Status: Closed to new capital. Portfolio actively managed.


COVID-19 Loans

San Diego-focused predecessor to Advance California's broader scope. Status: Folded into Advance California.pandemic supporting small businesses and nonprofits. Status: Program complete.
